My Story

Hello there! My name is Tasha.

I am a poetess and a parent to a wonderful son with additional and complex needs.

I self published my debut poetry book, You And Me, through Amazon KDP Publishing, in September 2024.

The book explores the intricate and complex relationships a parent with a child with additional needs has with professional services involved in the “care” of the child, the dynamics between parent and child and the relationship the parent has with themselves.

After years of battling an apathetic system, I wanted to reach other parents walking a similar path to me. The frustrations, the joys, the heart ache and ultimately the unconditional love a parent has for their child.

The poetry was written during a time of great anguish and turmoil. What started as random words progressed to sentences and finally poetry.

The tone is real, raw, emotional….human. I specifically wanted the poetry to remain raw and dissonant in places, for it reflects the reality for many parents navigating through the maze.

Ultimately, I wanted to reach as many parents as possible, for them to feel heard, validated, understood and worthy.

This is my main aim as a poet. To validate and empower others. To hear their stories, empathise with their journeys, encourage growth.

To me, as humans, we should help each other rise, free each other and ourselves from oppression and look at one another with love and compassion.

In a world full of hate and fear, we, as writers, can help instill love and joy.

Wow what an amazing book.

This book really is wonderful. The talent displayed through the use of words in this poetry collection is remarkable. She has a way of conveying human struggles into beautiful poetry which I think a lot of people can relate to, from parents and children going through what she has, as well as other people going through struggles, and it will give comfort to them knowing they are not on their own with these challenges in life. I can’t wait to read future books that Natasha Blanco- Dominguez writes. She is one of the most talented writers of today, and uses words to create beautiful art.

Some heartfelt observations on ‘You & Me’ by Natasha Blanco-Dominguez

A most forcefully moving account of a mother with an autistic child – her struggles and frustration with the relevant bodies who should be helping rather than being criminally neglectful. The mother’s despair and frustration leaps out of almost every page, and is, at times, quite heart-rending to read, making it too traumatic to read but a few of the poems in one session.
I have no doubt that this Poetry Collection will resonate with many other similarly afflicted parents, who having read the collection will perhaps be moved to cathartically chronicle their own experiences, so establishing a global network of mutual support.
