Over time, stories tell you what they need.

When I first created The Trufflepot Gang, the book covers were very much in a Pixar-style, bright, character-led, and playful. At the time, that felt right.

But as the series grew, the stories changed.

They became quieter, more thoughtful, and more rooted in atmosphere and mystery. The focus shifted away from showing everything up front and towards inviting the reader into the world instead.

At some point, the original covers no longer reflected what was actually on the page.

These new covers aren’t about being darker or more serious, they’re about being more honest. Each one centres on a single moment, object, or feeling from the story, and leaves space for curiosity to do its work.

For me, this felt like the natural evolution of the books… and of me as an author.
